A Quick Hello, from Sarah at Tinklers Music

Well, after so many interesting and lovely comments about the Tinklers CD, I decided that maybe a blog was a good thing to start. Here I can share some of my thoughts and experiences about early years music. It would be great if you would like to add your opinions in the comments. It would be lovely to hear what you think.

Before I start chatting about my experiences I thought it would be nice to do an introductory piece talking a little bit about Tinklers Music. For those of you who don’t know, Tinklers runs fun music classes for babies and young children, in the Lewes and Uckfield area. The young children and baby music classes have lots of different activities each week; such as scarves, hoops boomwhackers, puppets, and lots more. We have created a little taster video, which you can watch on our classes page.

Why I Started Tinklers Music

Whilst I was at home with my young children, William and Lottie; I set up a small music group for my friends. I wrote a few songs for us all to sing and enjoy. It was everything I imagined, the children had great fun making new friends, experiencing playing instruments; and learning new songs. I also really enjoyed getting together with everyone and chatting about children and life!

Setting up the music group inspired me to finish my Primary school teaching post and focus on growing Tinklers Music classes for the community. I was really fortunate to have such success, as my love of little children and creating music became my job!

Tinklers now has music sessions running every day of the week with music classes available for all ages and stages of the early years. I have the most wonderful supportive parents who actively join in the sessions and really add to the fun atmosphere.

Having run the groups for several years now, I can really see the huge benefits from children coming along to Tinklers Music on a regular basis. As research confirms, children who are actively involved in music, do better in reading and maths when they begin school. They also have better social skills, and show the ability to focus on tasks. So watch out all you little Tinklers you will be the stars of the classroom!

Well I guess it’s time to go now, it would be great to hear from you. I’ll post again soon.
